Winners of the 2003 Peak Flow Contest

The Middle Fork of the Salmon River peaked at 8.23 feet on May 31st. Just one day after I exited the Middle Fork. There were 96 degree days in the shade at camp that week and lots of large Timber in the river at the bottom. I think everyone was surprised by the high peak; except a couple of river rangers who's guesses were after the deadline (Linda Walton (8.0') Main Salmon-North Fork office & Shari Hughes (9.2') middle Fork office-Challis. Late, heavy snowpack in April & May made up for early season shortcomings.
Following is a list of winners:

1st Place Chris Johnson with 7.73' on June 5th (1st place peak flow)1st choice of prize
2nd Place Ted Day with 7.04' on 5-31 (Best overall guess) Sponsor, not eligible for prize
3rd Place Vince Thompson with 7.33 on June 3rd (2nd place peak flow)Not eligible for prize
